Kensington is a village within a city…people live, work, shop, dine and play here, and we think it’s a fabulous date destination day or night.  We vote Kensington as a best weekend brunch date destination. The strollable streets are great for window shopping and working up an appetite for some eggs! Here are our top 5 brunch spots in Kensington:

Brasserie Kensington

The Brasserie focuses on offering hearty, down to earth European fare with a bit of French flare. The food is rich and the room is really inviting-a great weekend brunch date location! I say get right to the breakfast poutine…I’m not really sure how to follow up with that-it’s the bomb. Go-enjoy….wear stretchy pants.

Higher Ground Café

When you just need a reliable, fast, delicious-get in my belly now kinda breakfast then this is where you roll to in Kensington. Higher Ground has been my studying haven for years- it’s always packed with energy and whether you’re looking to stay a while and relax with a paper or your laptop or catch up with your friends over a custom latte-you’ll fit in fine here. You may have to linger for a table for a bit though as people really like to camp out! The breakfast menu is simple. My favorite is the breakfast burrito- you can’t go wrong! And…they have just welcomed back the pumpkin pie Jack-O-latte! It’s like a warm hug on a chilly day.

Vendome Café

Vendome is a funky café in the heart of Sunnyside with tons of character. You can expect to rub shoulders with the other hungry people in line but it’s worth the wait. The Vendome brunch specialties are blue crab eggs benedict and the duck panini but if you’ve got a sweet tooth the pile of fluffy french toast cubes or whole wheat blueberry waffles will cure ya. They also have amazing baked goods and treats ready to be devoured if you can’t wait for your plate to hit the table.

Vero Modern Bistro

Vero modern bistro is a hidden gem in Kensington. They value fresh, healthy, local ingredients and are inspired after Italian & French cuisine. Vero means true in Italian and they certainly stay true to the passion of cooking! Try the lamp chop & eggs, Montréal smoked meat benedict or the passion fruit french toast brulee with hazelnut puree, fresh whipped cream, flaxseed and berries!
