We love the good ol’ hockey game and think it makes a great date night. There is nothing sexy about stadium food, here are some of our favorite restaurants for dinner before the game!
La Vita e Bella
A fresh Calgary Italian restaurant with a warm, inviting atmosphere is only a few steps outside of Cowboys Casino and the perfect dinner spot before the game. They offer a gluten free menu in addition to their more traditional Italian fare; steak, pasta and seafood, surely an upgrade to the stadium options! Try the misto di pesce- halibut, lobster, prawns, confit tomato sauce, garlic and herb roasted potatoes.
Located on the other side of the C-train tracks, burgers are their specialty! Build your own or order one of their expert creations like “the big kahuna” with pineapple, bacon and teriyaki mayo or “the Stampeder”, a double stacked burger patty with spulumbo’s italian sausage, fried onion, lettuce, tomato, cheddar and whisky BBQ sauce. Sure to please the most serious burger connoisseur, this is the ultimate hockey date destination.
Sunterra Market: Keynote
Sunterra Market Bar on the upper level at Keynote is a great place for dinner! Their dining room is surprisingly classy and the menu is full of delicious options! If you are in a rush you could grab something to go from the market or stay awhile and enjoy a glass of wine with your date.
Vintage Chophouse and Tavern
A classic Calgary steakhouse. Vintage’s rich mahogany lounge, perfect cocktail list and a nice piece of meat will get you charged up for the game. You can catch cocktail hour in the lounge from 3:30-6:30 featuring signature sips and small bites like C.A.B. Prime Rib Popovers with peppercorn sauce. Vintage takes the stress out of game night-show up for dinner, and they’ll drive you to the game in its limobus before puck drop.
Start off your hockey date with some sake bombs and the “JFC” aka Japanese fried chicken or order the teppanyaki which is cooked at your table! Zen 8 is located inside of Cowboys casino.
