Everyone is moving West! Aspen is making the suburbs look cool and 85th street SW is looking pretty hot for the culinary scene. Here are a few favourites for date night in the suburbs.
A European-style cafe with house made crepes & sweets, plus a bistro menu of burgers & salads and a cappuccino bar that always produces Instagram-worthy latte art.
With their Aspen location opening their doors in 2015, this OG YYC fav was a very welcome addition. Check them out for a great selection of breakfast and lunch options all made from fresh and local ingredients.
Fergus & Bix is a fan favourite up in Aspen, with a sister location in Marda Loop. Expect elevated pub food (we love the appies) and an extensive beer list.
Just as amazing as it’s sister on 4th Street. Mercato is perfect for any occasion.
My Favourite Ice Cream Shoppe
72 flavours of ice cream, milk shakes, sundaes, banana splits, sorbet and sugar free ice cream. It’s an old school concept in a new location – bring your sweet tooth.
Oj’s is always a reliable choice for delicious food and daily specials. Our favourite is Thursday night wine night- half price bottles! OJ’s is great for brunch, lunch, dinner or late night. A good spot to watch the game or for a casual dinner date!
Redwater Rustic Grille
Redwater is a chef and sommelier driven restaurant that features fresh food-locally sourced. They have a fab wine list and can accommodate private parties. On Tuesday’s you can enjoy half price wine (we really love wine).
Vin Room West
Vin Room is a gorgeous wine and tapas bar that serves unique wines by the glass. You and your date can enjoy a charcuterie and cheese plate with their ‘build your own platter’ option, or try some vin classics. My favourite is the lobster nachos and chickpea fritters-served with a mint yogurt and roast pepper and walnut dip. Vin room is the perfect spot for a casual glass at the bar, an intimate dinner for two or a dinner party with your closest friends.
