It’s time to dust off those cleats and running shoes and get into your favourite sports. Calgary Sport and Social Club have implemented safety precautions to keep you and your pals safe this year. Here are some ways CSSC is keeping everyone safe.
New Fitness and Yoga Classes to Try
Are you looking to get back into a healthy fitness routine? Then look no further! With CSSC’s newest fitness classes, it’s the perfect time to register to either get back into shape or keep active this fall.
What should you bring? Proper fitness clothing and shoes, a water bottle, and a yoga mat! In the fall, there are still sunny days so don’t forget to hydrate and apply sunscreen. The trainers will provide all equipment needed. Monday and Wednesday classes will be held at Riley Park while Tuesday and Thursday classes are held at Stanley Park. Find the class closest to you and come join us!
The outdoor group fitness classes are safe, socially distant, and led by inspiring and motivating coaches who will keep you going! Register today and get ready to get sweaty to a new themed playlist each week!
Why not supplement the fitness classes by getting in touch with your inner self at CSSC’s new yoga classes on Wednesday’s! Take your practice to the next level and enjoy an outdoor yoga class taught by the incredible Jess Leblanc. Now is the perfect time to leave it all on the mat. Register for classes starting August 5th here!
Get Active! Get Outside!
The endorphin high that we all get from exercise is waiting for us all to return to our extracurricular fun activities. While work has definitely changed for a lot of us, the importance of Vitamin D and cardiovascular health has not. Now more than ever we need to be able to burn off some stress and hang out with our friends.
Socialize with your friends safely
While we may be allowed to expand our bubble to include more people, we still need to respect the social distancing rule of staying two metres away from each other. When you’re out on the baseball diamond, it’s easy to keep apart. With the CSSC, tagging and sliding are a no-no but you can still make an awesome double play with your friend on second base by touching the bags.
While pre-meetings and handshakes have been removed, remember to keep your sportsmanship high by complimenting and engaging in friendly banter from a distance! CSSC has ensured that there is a safe way to play!
Bring Your Mask but not Your Spectators Please!
While CSSC knows it’s hard to play any sports in a mask, please bring a mask that will cover your mouth and nose while you’re not playing. What that looks like is grabbing a cloth mask that you can wear during arrival, departure, and when you’re subbing during play. As well, please avoid bringing extra spectators who aren’t participating. Let’s keep everyone safe!
Don’t forget all the perks

Join Us This Fall!
After successfully implementing the summer program of exciting sports and fitness classes, the CSSC is ready to host more sports offerings this fall! CSSC has educated themselves on how to make return to play safe for all of those involved. Discover your sport, get a team together or register individually at the end of July, and grab some cold beverages for every game!
During the summer and the fall, remember to wash your hands, respect people’s space and bring your mask so we can all continue to enjoy sports, recreation, and some fitness activities with some awesome people!
The CSSC is committed to adhering by the AHS safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the safety of all participants.
