For the most part, YYC is doing a FAB job of handling COVID-19 and local business city-wide are levelling up hard core to keep our dates safe, secure and enjoyable. A lot of gyms are temporarily closed down atm and the weather isn’t exactly permitting to workout outdoors. Regardless, there are many local fitness studios on the COVID-19 defence and prepped to help you both sweat out and peace out from any anxiety around the whole thing!
Before reading on, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND WORKOUT CLASSES IF: you have recently travelled outside of Canada, have been asked to self-isolate by a health care professional or gov. rep and/or are displaying ANY symptoms of having a fever, cough and/or shortness of breath. This is NOT a cute look in a shared facility especially during this time of uncertainty. If you are unwell, call 811 for guidance. K, you can read on now! Thanks!
Need a method to still get a workout in the thick of the world-wide weirdness? The Method has your back! This brand shiny new studio has come up with a lot of kick ass ways to cope with the current COVID-19 crisis. While their cleanliness and hygienic practices are super on-point, the studio is encouraging guests to offer words of encouragement and affirmation to each other instead of high-fives — AMAZING! Class numbers will be reduced for now and more time will take place in between sweat sessions. Just think, you could get the change room all to yourself! Score! Take a look at their their schedule here to find a class time that works best for ya.
Barre Belle has raised the bar (get it?) of both booty burning workouts and extra COVID-19 care! Extra time is now given between classes to ensure the studios are thoroughly cleaned, Lysol and bleach products are applied to all surfaces and equipment, mats will only be used for their Ass + Abs class and class sizes will be kept smaller. Their class attendees and instructors, also known lovingly as “Belles”, are also being asked to preform extra hygienic practices upon entering and during class during as well as post sweat — we’re so down for that! To check out their class times, click here and select one of their YYC locations.
Instead of stacking up on TP, STAX up a sweat at one of YYC’s top fave spin studios! The studio already has a rigorous cleaning regime and has cranked that resistance dial up to another level. The bikes are steam-cleaning ever more frequently and Lysol wipes are being provided to get your bike all squeaky clean pre and post ride. Class sizes are also being capped at 20 people with extra space being given between each bike — all the better to deepen those pimps and dips with! And pssst the weight tracks are temporarily skipping out of class so if you’re into the cardio vibe, now’s a really good time to ride. Go and book your bike here and have a HELLA good time at this bad ass facility!
Punch out the panic this week at Rumble Boxing! Classes at both the 17th Ave and Country Hills location are still raring to go with extra thorough studio cleanses in between. The studio has upped their glove rental sanitization process, meaning they’re still be available for guests without their own pair. However, this is a PERFECT time to treat yourself to a signature set of Rumble Gloves cause the studio is selling them for only $50 — more than 50% off the usual price of $105! Huge high five to Rumble for making workouts and sports gear more accessible to the peeps. Check out their schedule by clicking here.
Crush goals and crush COVID-19 creepy crawlies at Crush Camp to take a breather from the craycray — that is if you do not run out of breath during those Skillmill intervals, my god! Crush Camp is keeping things upbeat and positive with a full suite of classes, extra studio sanitizations, foot-fives and studio-wide accountability for hygienic practices. Crush Camp is also in super high support of showing love to fellow local business atm so if you hit either their 17th Ave or East Village location, speak with one of their team for more ideas on how to go local!
