As we barrel towards the end of August and basically to the end of summer, we are trying to fit as many of our favourite summer weekend activities in as possible. Heading out to the mountains, spending Friday afternoons on a 17th ave patio, and hanging out by the river with ice cream in hand. When the weather is this hot and the sun is out, we have our sunscreen in hand and there is no way you’ll catch us inside.
That’s why we’re so excited to head to the last summer Calgary Stampeders game on August 25th. Grab a cold one, maybe some nachos and get your squad together for an awesome afternoon in the sun cheering on the Stamps. Can you think of a better way to spend a Saturday? Nah, us too.
The game on August 25th against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers is the Calgary Stampeders Family Day game mixed with their Diversity is Strength game – something that the CFL holds close to their hearts. This game and all the initiatives by the CFL encourage everyone to embrace the multicultural fabric of our country; and what better way to do that then coming together to support our city’s team.
Call up your fam and head down to McMahon Stadium on August 25th for the 1:30pm kickoff. If you have kids, or friends that have kids, make sure you get there early to enjoy the free pre-game family tailgate party on the South Practice Field at McMahon starting at 11am. Brush elbows with the kid’s favourite TV characters including Chase & Marshall from Paw Patrol, Michelangelo & Raphael from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants, Snoopy and Dora the Explorer! There will also be interactive inflatables (for the kids, sorry to all the adults), airbrush tattoos, music, food trucks and all the fun you need to get your Saturday started.
To put the cherry on top, there will be an adorable performance at halftime by Little Miss Outrider that you won’t want to miss. Pull on your jersey, grab your ball cap and get your tickets for the Family Day Stampeders Game.
