The Royal couple posted their official engagement photos today and the internet can’t even. These gorgeous photos are the new definition of #relationshipgoals. They were taken earlier this week at the Frogmore House in Windsor by fashion photographer Alexi Lubomirski who had the honour of capturing the couple’s love for each other. Stay tuned for the much-anticipated wedding at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018.
2. Apple Admits to Slowing Down Phones
Were you one of those people that had an iPhone 6S that would randomly shut down even if there was more than enough battery life left? Us too. After all the rumours, Apple finally admitted to slowing down iPhones on purpose. When Apple started its battery replacement program they also tweaked their iOS updates to slow down phones to save battery life. They introduced this on the iPhone 6, 6S and 6E last year and the iPhone 7 as of December with the iOS 11.2 update. They plan to add this support for other products in the future as well. Is this “planned obsolescence” – the company nudging people into buying the latest model by slowing down the older iPhones. Apple says no, this feature is designed to protect against battery problems and prolong the life of iPhones. The fact that Apple is calling it a “feature”, not a bug, is causing backlash from Apple users.
3. The Last Jedi
The newest Star Wars film was released on Friday and the world is torn. This is the most divided critics and fans have been about any other movie released this year. On Rotten Tomato critics gave the movie a 92% where fans are barely reached 55%. The hardcore fans are irritated with Disney’s take on more kid-friendly characters and making the movie less moody and darker than those fans were expecting. There has been some backlash on the narrative missteps and plot holes, even the director, Rian Johnson, has said he’s been feeling the backlash and has seen the angry Twitter response. Either way, the Last Jedi closed box offices last week with $500 million.
4. UN Votes on Jerusalem
After President’s Trump abrupt decision to name Jerusalem the capital of Israel the UN sat down to take a vote on it. Before the vote took place today, Trump threatened to cut funding to any country that opposed his decision. However, much to Trump’s dismay the UN nullified his attempt to move the capital to Jerusalem with 128-9 votes against. Canada was among the 35 countries that abstained from the vote. Canada has had a longstanding view that the status of Jerusalem can be resolved only as part of a general settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute.
5. Khloe Kardashian FINALLY Confirms Pregnancy
Last night Khloe Kardashian posted on Instagram a photo of her baby bump with the caption “We are having a baby!” Even though there have been months of speculation of her pregnancy with NBA player Tristan Thompson, the couple was enjoying the news privately before announcing it to the public. In true Momanger style, Kris Jenner carefully planned the announcement in line with a mid-season trailer released last week showing Khloe crying and hugging her family and friends. Nothing is private in the world of the Kardashians so we’ll get to watch the episode where she breaks the news to her inner circle. Now, all we’re waiting for is the official confirmation from Kylie Jenner.
