Calgary International Beerfest – May 1-2, 2015
Can’t decide what to drink? This weekend you won’t have to. Calgary International Beerfest is back with over 500 different beers to choose from. Find some new favorites and have a great time doing it at the BMO Centre starting at 4pm Friday, and 2pm Saturday – Cheers.

Art of the Cocktail – May 2-3, 2015
Art of the Cocktail is a two-day event that showcases just that – The art of the cocktail. This event shows some love to the educated consumer and the craft cocktail movement in YYC. Sip on the best of what this city has to offer at the Grand Tasting this weekend. It embraces established brands of spirits as well as new artisans in the region.

Market Collective – May 1-3, 2015
Market Collective is back this weekend at the Chinese Cultural Centre. If you missed it last time, you’ll definitely want to catch this one. There will be a number of artisans selling everything from art and accessories, to food and home décor. This is the perfect place to pick up a unique and hand crafted gift for Mother’s Day – Plus a few things for yourself.

Today is International Star Wars Day – May the fourth be with you. We’re thinking a movie marathon Monday is in order. Call up the Star Wars fan in your life, get some snacks, and cozy up for a night of storm troopers and lightsabers.

Cinco de Mayo @ National On 10th
Today is May 5th, and you know what that means – Cinco de Mayo festivities are underway. National Bowl is hosting a fiesta worthy of a Wednesday hangover. It just happens to be a taco Tuesday and National is serving up two tacos and a pint for $12. There will also be beergaritas on the menu, made from Wild Rose’s Electric Ave Lager, and Wild Rose Tequila Barrel Aged Beers. The DJ will be spinning Mexican inspired beats starting at 6pm.

The Official Sled Island Pre-Party w/ Andy Stott
It’s time to start getting amped for this year’s Sled Island Music Festival. The official pre-party is happening Wednesday, May 6th at The Hifi Club – Featuring Andy Stott with Corinthians, Kline, and Lenton Fuller.

Be A Kid Again For Kids Up Front
Drinks, appetizers, and board games make for the best Thursday night around. Tickets include an appetizer bar which will be replenished all night, one complimentary drink, one entry to the raffle draw, and Plenty of photo booth fun. Challenge your crew to a game starting at 7pm. This fantastic event is in support of the local charity, Kids Up Front, which helps deserving kids in Calgary.

Learning Beyond Borders – Calgary’s 1st Annual Ball Hockey Tournament
Learning Beyond Borders First Annual Ball Hockey Tournament is happening this Saturday. It’s going to be a fun one, and this is how it’s going down – 4 on 4 (+ goalies), Tournament style, minimum 7 players to register, 8 teams, must be 15 or older (male or Female), and $20 a person which includes admission, t-shirt, and food.

Adults Only Night @ Telus Spark
We’re all pretty confortable in our daily lives, besides those first world problems, but what would we do if disaster struck? – The Telus Spark Centre presents, The Science of survival skills. Learn all about alternatives to electricity, and ways to start and put out a fire, while being a big kid in the Science Centre. There will be hands-on activities, a licensed bar service, and music throughout the evening.

Otafest – May 15-17, 2015
Otafest is Calgary’s 3-day Japanese animation festival hosted by the University of Calgary. Fans of Japanese culture will have the chance to check out anime showings, panels, presentations, and more. This unique events is sure to please new anime fans and diehards alike.

Notorious West: Mayday
If you haven’t seen this group perform, that needs to change – unless you don’t like shows that are ridiculously funny. Notorious are an improve comedy rap group that will have you laughing till it hurts and having a great time. Pick up some tickets and see what all the hype is about.

Show Up & Ship Out to The Slush Cup at Sunshine Village
Show up at The Ship & Anchor and then ship out to Sunshine Village for the 87th Annual Slush Cup. The Slush Cup is a wild event featuring some pretty crazy riders, dressed to impressive, and riding into a pool of ice-cold slush water. A small $45 fee covers a lift ticket, a ride, and a couple of ice-cold brews. The coach leaves at 7:30am, and tickets are available at the bar.

Tweed Ride
If you ever get the urge to bike around the city in tweed or vintage clothing, this event is for you. Get dressed in your finest tweed or vintage clothing and ride casually around the city for 10-15km. The ride will be in support of Bicycles for Humanity, which is an organization that sends used bikes to developing countries, which in turn supports the basic needs of communities.

Calgary 2015 – Volleyball Canada Championships – May 17-19, 2015
With over 800 teams, 10,000 athletes, and 12,000 spectators, Calgary 2015 is one of the biggest single sport events in Canada. Come out and watch some volleyball done right by Canada’s top senior players.

Whether you have kids of your own or not, the Calgary International Children’s Festival is a fun place to be this weekend. Bring your nieces and nephews, or finally get together with those friends who have kids, and spend the day being a big kid. There’s nothing more refreshing than seeing the world through a kid’s eyes for the day.

New Craft Coalition – May 22-23, 2015
New Craft Coalition will be bringing a carefully curated collection of art, crafts, and design to Festival Hall in Inglewood this Friday from 4-9pm, and Saturday from 10am-6pm. With so many beautiful pieces of art to choose from, you will not leave empty handed.

Taste the Market
Visit the Calgary Farmers’ Market this Saturday for a night of live music, night market shopping, beer, and wine. Over 25 vendors will be serving small bites for small prices, and chefs will be competing in an appetizer competition, which guests will have the chance to vote on. All proceeds from this event will be going to the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank.

This Sunday, dust off those walking shoes and head over to Prince’s Island Park for the 2015 MS Walk. Join the movement to end MS, have a great time, and raise funds for local programs and services that benefit the MS community.

Woman2Warrior is a non-timed run and obstacle course for women who are up for an exciting day of fun challenges. Woman2Warrior may be completed as a team or an individual, and the proceeds raised by each individual will benefit Easter Seals Alberta and the Children’s Hospital Aid Society.
