2. Seven Wonderers

850 4 St SE

Some say science holds the greatest adventure stories on earth – in the hands of the right storytellers. This evening of sparkling storytelling will take you to the frontlines of science – seven stories with music to match – all brought to life by researchers, broadcasters and brilliant minds. Prepare to see the human side of discovery!
Hosted by Chantal Chagnon, singer, drummer, storyteller, speaker, activist, along with featuring a line-up of incredible guests.

3. Science of Cats and Dogs
Thursday, September 14, 2017, 7:30 pm
Bella Concert Hall, 4825 Mount Royal Gate SW

Your cat is your harshest critic, your dog is your best friend. Or – do you have one of
those cats who thinks she’s a dog? What mysteries lurk beneath all of that fur, and
what does our fascination with these two domesticated species tell us about
the domesticated human? Naturally, we turn to science (and music, and comedy) to
find out. Hosted by Jay Ingram and his band.

Staggered along the RiverWalk, overlooking the Bow, are 15 giant teeter-totters. Grab a friend, or make a new friend, and bob up and down together. These motion-aware teeter-totters will reward you for your playful interaction with beautiful light and sound.
This work was commissioned and produced by the Partenariat du Quartier des Spectaclesin Montreal and created by Lateral Office, CS Design Inc, EGP Group, Mitchell Akiyama, Générique Design and Robocut Studio. Talk about collaboration!

diameter, where your motion will activate this retro-futuristic mechanism, causing beautiful images inspired by 13 fairy tales to come to life. Created by Olivier Girouard, Jonathan Villeneuve and Ottoblix, and produced with the support of Quartier des Spectacles Partnership Montreal.

7. Beakerbar

Beakerbar is your centre of the universe for hanging out with friends all through Beakerhead. Pull up a chair to toast the spirit of invention at the Inventors' Market – where cold brews and chemical cocktails are yours for the tasting while you drum up your own "next big idea." Soak in the sunshine (we hope) or bask in the glow from Serpent Mother who towers nearby.

8. Take a selfie in front of Nucleation
September 13 – 17. All day. Every day.
Legion No. 1, 116 - 7 Avenue SE

5,000 white balloons are spilling out of the building as if some sort of cartoonish experiment went awry inside. No lab coats or goggles required, though. Word has it there may be bubbles for the taking every day when the clock strikes three. Created by entrepreneur Maria Galura.

9. Calgary Municipal Space Station
Sept. 13 – 17 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.

The year is 2047 and you are invited to the grand opening of the world’s first municipal space station! Calgary’s public transit system now features direct service via space elevator to the Calgary Municipal Space Station – but what good is a space station unless there is another station to blast-off to? Launch up, have your say on where the next space station should go, and party like it’s 2047!

Serpent Mother.jpg

10. Serpent Mother
Wednesday, September 13, Thursday, September 14 &  Friday, September 15 @8:00 pm, 9:30 pm. Saturday, September 16 @8:00 pm, 9:00 pm, 10:00 pm.
Fort Calgary, 750 9 Ave SE

Ssssssssstretching 168 feet long and with 40 pillars of fire, Serpent Mother by San Francisco’s Flaming Lotus Girls is the most literal of snakes in Snakes and Ladders – and she takes the cake for the fieriest presenter to date. Unfurling her spikes on Wednesday at 10 am, she will be nesting at Fort Calgary with nightly hair-singeing fire shows to check out on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (Beakernight). We will say this: she's a jaw-dropping marvel no matter what time of day you meet her.

Beakerhead is in the city from September 13 - 17 with plenty more to check out.
