Calgary’s cocktail culture is something worth tasting. At Peeled Cocktail Festival you get the opportunity to learn, taste, explore and experience what the cocktail scene in Calgary is all about. What could be better than getting to drink a few cocktails while helping support, promote and grow the cocktail industry by sharing its stories around the world.
Passion for the spirits industry, a community of mixologists, food and beverage purveyors, spirit companies and event planners have come together to make this festival happen. Our passion for cocktails has us counting down the days until it starts.
The weekend will be full of seminars, tastings, networking and good conversation with people who are a part of the community. The goal is to make Calgary recognized as a cocktail destination for people across the world, just as our city is now a top culinary destination.
So how does it work? You will get a Peeled Passport to guide you through the greatest establishments in Calgary from August 12th to 14th. Each destination restaurant has crafted a custom cocktail showcasing their unique style. As you make your tasting journey through Calgary you can get your Passport stamped along the way.
Peeled Academy. If you want to explore your skills in the cocktail world, this is for you. Whether you are a cocktail connoisseur or just getting into it, you will learn a lot from the cocktail experts hosting. The list of seminars is overflowing with top names in mixology, you will have a hard time picking which ones to go to. Dale DeGroff will take you through the history of cocktails on August 12 at Sub Rosa, Jack McGarry’s seminar is focused on the “Battle to the Top” and the struggles and hardships that come with being involved in the industry, including substance abuse, depression, and anxiety.
Get your hands dirty by hitting up a workshop. Learn how to make the perfect Old Fashioned hosted by Jason Wankel at Ox Bar de Tapas. Everyone knows and appreciates the classic bar stool drink and with the workshop, you can bring home your skills to impress your dinner guests. Take your home bar to the next level by attending “How to Setup and Stock a Home Bar” hosted by Jeff Savage at PR%F on August 13. The final workshop on August 13 is hosted by Cameron Pinkney who will take you through the heritage of rum.
